Slade Hocking

Edith SalzmannGrowing up in Timaru and playing cornet in the Waimataitai School Band from age 8 led Slade Hocking to an array of musical opportunities.

After travelling the world with the the New Zealand Army Band, Slade began his Bachelor of Music at the New Zealand School of Music.

After completing his BMus, Slade was awarded the Brass Scholarship at the University of Tasmania - Conservatorium of Music to undertake his Post Graduate studies. On completion, Slade went further abroad to complete his Masters in Music at the Hochschule für Musik - Luzern, Switzerland.

Since returning to Christchurch to take up the position of Associate Principal Trumpet in the CSO Slade has founded the Christchurch Brass Academy, promoting quality education from experienced musicians.
